The Bellevue Literary Review (BLR) is a literary magazine published by the Department of Medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center. The name refers to NYU’s Bellevue Hospital, the oldest public hospital in the U.S. The BLR editor-in-chief is Dr. Danielle Ofri, a prolific writer for the New York Times and author of the book “What Doctors Feel: How Emotions Affect the Practice of Medicine.”

The Bellevue Literary Review accepts submissions from anyone (not only people at NYU or in the medical field) and submissions require a $5 fee. You can submit fiction, creative non-fiction, or poetry on “themes of health, healing, illness, body and mind.” Follow the instructions at this site to submit. You can also read selected pieces from BLR archives on its site, or subscribe to the BLR as a reader to gain full access to the magazine.

Submission deadline: As of this posting, are accepted during all months except July and August.
